Ecuador has just been awarded a new award that confirms him as one of the best tourist destinations in the world. Awarded by the World Travel Awards , the country received the award for “Best Green Destiny World 2016”, considered by many as the Oscar of tourism.

This award, the country earns second consecutive year, rewards the quality of the activity of quality tourism (destinations, products, services, gastronomy, hotel infrastructure, etc). Our country won the recognition of its natural beauty. The award adds to received last August 2016 as leader of South America green destination.

The Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest is one of the most mega-diverse places in the world

In the 2016 edition, Ecuador had the competence to Belize, Brazil, Costa Rica, Fiji, Kenya, Norway, Peru and Trinidad and Tobago. The award was received by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Dominic Hamilton, on the island of Anguilla (Caribbean) during the gala on Sunday 7 December.

The award will allow the country further strengthened as one of the best tourist destinations in the world. The 14 percent increase in the percentage of tourists arriving in the country shows that this aspiration is becoming gradually a reality.

The historic center of Quito -the best preserved Latin America-; the imposing Amazon , with its enormous biodiversity; the chain of mountains that illuminates the landscape of the Sierra; deserted beaches; cities and small colonial towns, indigenous markets of the Andes . .. all those places, coupled with the warmth of the Ecuadorian people, contributed to Ecuador for this new award.

Last year, when the award was presented in Doha, Qatar, Ecuador beat destinations such as Brazil, Fiji Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, the Seychelles, Norway and Oslo.
